What is Phlebotomy Training Orange County?
Phlebotomy is the practice of drawing blood from patients for testing, transfusions, research, or donation. In our Phlebotomy Training Orange County program, you will learn how to perform venipunctures, properly handle blood samples, and communicate effectively with patients. This program is designed to give students the knowledge and skills necessary to obtain an entry-level position as a Phlebotomy Technician.
How long do phlebotomy classes Orange County take?
Our Phlebotomy Technician program consists of 160 hours of training, which can be completed in as little as 4 months. This includes 80 hours of classroom instruction and 80 hours of externship training. The externship allows students to gain hands-on experience in a real-world setting, equipping them with the necessary skills to succeed in their future careers.
What are the requirements for Phlebotomy Training Orange County?
We do not require prior medical experience to take our course. However, it is required that you are a high school graduate from an accredited high school in the United States or have a GED equivalent. If you obtained your high school diploma outside of the country, you will need your foreign transcripts evaluated. Laboratory Field Services (LFS) will accept educational transcript evaluations from “current members” of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc (AICE).
What skills will I learn in Phlebotomy Training?
Through lectures, interactive presentations, skills labs, and simulations, you will gain the knowledge and skill to administer blood draws on patients. Techniques will first be practiced on manikin arms, followed by practicing a variety of different venipunctures on classmates during the laboratory portion of the class. In addition to learning the specialized skill of drawing blood and processing blood samples, you will learn medical terminology and anatomy as it pertains to phlebotomy.
You will also learn blood sampling procedures, laboratory safety, effective patient communication and the proper methods to clean up spills to prevent infection. Once you successfully finish the classroom portion of the program, you will complete your training at one of our state approved externship sites; such as a hospital, physician’s office or patient service center.
What kind of certification can I obtain after Phlebotomy Training?
Upon program completion and externship, students may take the National Certified Exam (NCE), through the National Healthcare Association (NHA) or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). Students who pass the NCE may apply for state licensure CPT1, which allows them to practice phlebotomy in California.

This allows you to apply what you have learned in the classroom to real-world situations. It also allows you to gain valuable experience and make connections in the field.
